we are all star struck !

Another busy afternoon with hoards of excited and enthusiastic people eager to try on the lurid feather boa and do a bit of superstar pouting.
"Roll up Roll up !"
'I love dressing up - this is great, it's just like my bedroom !"

"Bring me my pipe, Watson !'

'Hows about that then ?'

It all got very busy mid afternoon when the table was surrounded by the young and the old - parents persuading reluctant children to try on a hat or a wig and then, the very same parents whilst declining to join in, when my back was turned, got all dolled up and the children raised their young eyebrows as they were dragged into the photo booth.

Lily the pink the pink the pink

2 moustaches are always better than one !
"You know I'm bad, I'm bad...'

"We gonna make you a star"

"That's why I stay blinging !"

They're creepy and they're kooky,
mysterious and spooky,
The Addams Family

'Good-bye, good goody girl
I'm changing and how'
"You know my methods, apply them."

There is something liberating about putting on a disguise and 'disappearing' and those who have had a go, have taken the selection and application of props quite seriously - it has been a really good way to get people talking about what Warhol was interested in and how he is still relevent.

  1. Hello! Well, I'm Jasmine and I am so happy I came to De La Warr. OK, the weather ain't all that but I just saw some epic art! Some lovely, some disturbing, some sad, some amusing but all beautiful. Warhol, good on ya mate, cause you sure can paint. It was a brilliant day all in all...and I will never look at a can of soup in the same way again!
    Love Jasmine x

  5. I am 10 and here is my thorght about the gallerys and the art all over the show. But I donot know why you have to put TWO or more photographs. There should be a lot more information on the prodject and why you owners dont ask for money on the gallerys!!!!! there are a lot of work and art on the show down on the ground floor gallery. the balcony on the top should have a bit of fun and exciting things to do eg looking around with bonoculars, and pay to have a photograph of the lovery and humerous things and it should be in black and white and it should aford for more Andy Warhol stuff to make a beter tour around the bits and pieces you have providid for us. There should be a listening thing to show about the expertitions on Andy Warhol. There should be more things to sell on the expertitions.

  8. Really great exhibition. Lots of great artworks but would like to know more about some of them. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Marilyn Monroe piece, and particularly enjoyed the Mao and cadaver works. My grandma even enjoyed the posters. Well done De La Warr, this is very good for Bexhill.

  14. The De La Warr always manages wonderfully organised and diverse gallery exhibitions.
It's just a shame Andy Warhol had no talent.
