Thanks Kevin...Posted on behalf of Martin Grimshaw:

Thanks Kevin, beautifully summarised. Personally I am fascinated by the moments of magic that often occur when people get together and do something unusual, such as create a space in which to discuss important topics. We rarely do this. One of the things the Transition Towns movement does is create and facilitate these conversations among ordinary people, so fostering community, respect, understanding. Often action arises spontaneously as a natural outcome.

For me, one of the most exciting questions that the Transition Towns model poses, is: What would our communities look like, if we got together and started imagining how we would like our communities to be? What kind of world would we like to pass on to our children and grandchildren?

....with the knowledge that the time for change is now, not later.

I think that Beuys might have seen the Transition Towns movement, which has spread virally from a town in Devon 4 years ago, to an international phenomenon today, as a continuation of his work and the work of
others. Ultimately it is about you and I seizing the initiative and determining our future, as we would like it to be. As such it is deeply empowering.

http://transitiontowns.orgPolly Giffordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03124744231141877846noreply@blogger.com
